Harvey Help Still Needed

It seems hard to believe that Harvey happened over a month ago. It seems like a distant bad memory. Yet, it’s far from a memory for many. Through our city’s partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, we have over 200 work orders just to have homes “mucked-out.” Hard to believe that a month later some people have homes that still haven’t been touched. Even harder to believe that so many people have NO ONE to help. That’s amazing and frightening.

Samaritan’s Purse estimates we will be mucking-out houses through the remainder of this year. You are still needed to help these people with the love of Jesus. We’ve seen over 40 people come to Christ while ripping out sheetrock and tearing out wet carpet. Pretty amazing.

And the ministry opportunities don’t stop there. So many of these folks, not only have no way to demo their homes…they have no way to rebuild them as well. So, beginning in the next few months, we’ll be shifting from demo mode to rebuild mode. Samaritan’s Purse will be rebuilding homes for about the next 2 years.

Anyone can be involved in a team going out into the community.  Just show up at Crosspoint Church, Monday through Saturday at either 7:30am or 12:30pm. Just show up and they’ll put you to work. If you’d like, you can fill out a volunteer application in advance.

Harvey isn’t over for so many people who desperately need our help.
